The ZEV-UP consortium held its 6th General Assembly in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 8 and 9 October 2026, hosted by CERTH. The meeting provided partners with an opportunity to review the project’s technical achievements and represented an important moment as the ZEV-UP prototypes are getting ready for the road.
The first day began with updates on vehicle design, architecture and components, followed by the outcomes of the prototype building tasks. Partners presented the main technical results, including the powertrain, battery packs, electrical and electronic systems, and the vehicle structure. Additive manufacturing was used for complex parts such as the seats and dashboard, helping to reduce cost and production time. The ZEV-UP frugal, modular, and ultra-compact vehicle has been developed in three vehicle variants, adapted to different urban user needs, including first-time buyers, families, and small businesses.
With the vehicles building phase now completed, the project is moving towards real-life demonstrations in Istanbul and Greece. Partners reviewed the use cases, driver selection and timing of the trials, and aligned activities ahead of the data collection and analysis, which include impact assessment and user acceptance of the vehicles.
On the second day, partners covered communication efforts, upcoming dissemination opportunities, including plans for the upcoming showcasing events and the project’s mid-term event. Discussions also included exploitation plans, as well as governance and financial aspects. Partners also review and discussed the timeline of activities for 2027, an important year for the project to showcase its results and impact for zero-emission urban mobility. To conclude the meeting, partners had the opportunity to learn more about CERTH’s activities and to test drive one of its light electric test vehicles.
The General Assembly marked a key step for ZEV-UP. As the prototypes are almost ready for demonstration, the partners are looking forward to unveiling the vehicles very soon and showing how the ZEV-UP affordable, zero-emission electric vehicles can contribute to transforming the future of urban mobility.
